SOME BRONSON HISTORY
« on: November 23, 2020, 07:10:04 AM »
GOOD LORD !!!!!
It would take a Lifetime to find much more info than the Late Robert Ellis and a few others compiled here in this link from STUFFED SHIRTS'S ONLINE BRONSON PAGE
Great Pictures by STUFFED SHIRTS MEMBER TOM DE LONG too

https://www.STUFFED SHIRTSonline.org/bronson-reel-photos-home-page/

From what I have googled and dug up is that Bronson started out
as the Bronson Reel Company of Bronson, Michigan and  was organized in June, 1922 by E.J. McMahon, who formerly had been the sales manager for the Shakespeare Company in Kalamazoo.
The company made a gazillion different reels and types and built them for nearly everyone else in the world. The Company Eventually got bought out by TRUE TEMPER in the late 60's or so .
Then in the early 70's ceased production for what reason I have no clue and have not found any info on it but I think it's odd that pert  near most  if not  ALL Reel Companies bought out by TRUE TEMPER as did OCEAN CITY went out of business shortly there after .......

I have Boxes of them . Some worth a Quarter  to some worth a Hundred ...lol
I will post some of the ones I have and know about  from my own collection  as time goes on  especially THE UNI-SPIN Model 63  .
More Later.
