Wanted / Re: WTB: Penn Senator 16/0
« Last post by Crab Pot on March 03, 2024, 10:45:30 AM »
Yep, I have been watching the same reels on Ebay for over a year plus that aren't selling in the $500-$1300 range.

There is a guy from France that has one as well.

The Japanese reels on Ebay, in mine and others experience, are worn out internally.

Don't even think of buying a used electric reel from Japan. I've had a couple friends get ripped off on reels that they spent north of $500 on.

The folks in Japan use their gear!

I'll find one eventually but not taking a loan out to do it.

The Elusive,Extravagant, EXPENSIVE  .PENN 16/0 is about all I need for my modest Collection as well but I just can't see paying 7 hundred to 1200 or more for one  .There are a few on the Bay but  not so good shape and a whoppin Thousand Bux .
This one says it has a Good Engine ....lol

One or more are from Japan and the Seller has some Bad FEEDBACK as to shipping when they say Free but you get exorbitant import duties stuck on it .
I buy stuff from Japan all the time without any duties or import fees  so WHADDUP wid Dat ?
Maybe it has to do with over a certain amount ?
Thought about buying the Right sideplate ,Foot,  a spool and some crossbars and building one from one of my 114/0's as pieces come up now and then  and that's the only difference (the Width) I understand some of the Early versions had smaller guts tho.

Wanted / WTB: Penn Senator 16/0

WTB:

I need a Penn 16/0 to complete my Senator collection.

In no rush, I know it's the "Jaws Movie Reel" but that doesn't add value in my opinion, should have both clamps, and it must be clean cosmetically (but not perfect).

Looking for a fair deal for a decent reel.

If anyone has one hit me up.

Thanks,

Steve

I collect old Penn's.

But I've always admired Ocean City.

I'm just worried I'll like them too much...

Thanks for the write up,

Steve

These are Definitely overlooked and  selling CHEAP on e-bay for Now .
They will stand up to anything in today's Market .
Made back in the late 50's still GOOD TODAY as many other of Ocean City 's Reels of the Day.

PENN REELS / Re: Bryan Young 7+1 Drag Kits for 113 H Bad Fitment ?
« Last post by Wompus Cat on February 29, 2024, 06:34:46 AM »
I have never had a complaint about anything I ordered from Bryan Young and I have ordered many drag sets from his company.

I also know him personally.

If ever there was something wrong I know he would stand behind his products it and make it right.

My 2-cents-worth,

Steve

Thank you for your input .  That's how things get done .

Maybe I am just the overlooked kid at the Candy  Counter .
However Pictures don't lie and it is what it is . The kit I got was fubarred and when I was a contributing Member on Tiny Town I reached out to Bryan long before he got sick about it (Nearly 2 years ago )and asked for replacement parts . All I got was what I posted above .
The Fact Remains the parts I got were not cut properly whether he used a Laser or a Horse Shoe Rasp and this anomaly is posted on Mystic Parts that alterations are needed for proper fitment .

I have 2 sets of these I won't be using if anyone wants them 20 bux each shipped  to U.S.A. addy's

1. For 113H  (SOLD)
2. For Penn Jig Master

PENN REELS / Re: PENN BAJA SPECIAL 113HN and U.S. SENATOR MODEL BRIDGE PROBLEMS
« Last post by Wompus Cat on February 28, 2024, 03:24:38 AM »
Tore into a Recently acquired U.S.113 Senator . Yep it has the Same Guts as the BAJA
This one however DID NOT have the loose pins in it but rather a looks like FACTORY MODIFIED
BRIDGE PLATE in that the pins are bigger on bottom and protrude more through the plate as well as they are PEENED much better than previous versions and SHOULD HOLD UP !
I wonder IF someone could get hold of Tony (The PENN REP) over on tani site and ask him WHADDUP and when did PENN wake up and fix this . Here are some pix and a pic of the Frame #

Maybe this number will help pin point when this started

NOW ANOTHER PROBLEM
This reel has a hairline crack in the Handle side Side Plate

Wonder How Many of these there are out there ?????

I will Stop Drill  and Fill it so she should be good to go  but still why in the first place ????
Screws were not loose or no sign of abuse ....
