Granted most of the New Fishing Rods today have Cheap Ass plastic Reel Handles and unfortunately the parts that hold the Reel on it are REALLY SHITTY and break all the time then you just Chunk it in the water most times or the mindfull might dispose of it in a more Environmentally Friendly way IF there is such a thing.
So why not take a little time and Fix it .
1. You can use Metal Screw Type Hose Clamps to hold the Reel on but they tend to catch your hand and cut your fingers if you hold the Rod the way I do . Works fine tho.
2. You could use those Zip Ties but again the hand and Finger irritation thing. plus they don't really tighten as good as a Hose Clamp.
3. GOODEST WAY Me Thinks and rather ingenious I must say as Follows.
Here is one I repaired .
You can see where someone either over tightened the Collar Fittings or stepped on the Rod ,dropped it from the Balcony ......Who Knows but it is USELESS in the Current Condition

Just ain't gonna hold a Reel No Mo !

With the use of a Bench Grinder I Ground off the old holder and rounded the area as smooth as I could
(I was able to make it almost perfectly smooth eventually with some finesse using file and sanding block but you get the idea ..)

Then with the use of an old Garden Hose Slicing Clamp I had laying around (the old hose finally just got tooo old and broke every time I used it so I shit Canned it and saved the piece) You can buy NEW ones Metal or Plastic for a Buck or 2 at most Hardware Stores and to save a otherwise good fishing Rod what the Heck

Like I said you CAN use a Hose Clamp and or some plastic Zip Ties but this is so much Smoother and feels Good .
