Reels of the Past and Some Still Here > PENN REELS

PENN Price Lists Through The Years

(1/1)

Wompus Cat:
Here is a Price List from 1933

Here are some Examples of what these Reels would Cost with  Todays Inflation Factored in .
For instance a Penn Long Beach #65 300 Yard Reel cost in 1933 $6.75
Today's Market would be $152.90

The Penn Sea Hawk # 40 was $3.00 would now be $67.96.

Now that is what the dollar Value is now  NOT ACTUAL COSTS TO PRODUCE THE SAME PRODUCT IN TODAY'S SUPER MACHINE AUTOMATED ROBOTIC MASS PRODUCING MANUFACTURING PROCESS, COSTS OF MATERIALS  OR COUNTRY OF MANUFACTURE . Factor this in and the Reels of Yesterday Could be 10 times more expensive,  10 times Less or maybe even the Same
JUST SAYIN  ::)

But I Bet if you factored in the Labor Costs, Union Dues, EMPLOYEE Insurance , LIABILITY INSURANCE,
WARRANTY, FEDERAL,STATE,IMPORT TAXES,FUEL ADJUSTMENT RATES,VACATION PAY and a SUNDRY of other Stuff  the 3 Dollar REEL  Could Cost 10 Grand .
Just look at what a New Truck cost in 1930 ($385.00) $385 in 1933 = $8,722.65 in 2023

A NEW PLAIN JANE PICK UP  today is 35 Grand !!!! and as much or more than 200 Grand .........

So that lil inflation thingy don't work so good on some things does it  ::)
