Recently I have begun learning about Dam reels and have dug out some of the ones I have had stored for way too long and am discovering quite a few differences in the 330 (Finessa's I think) made in or around 1974 (Don't Know) for sure .
First I have one with four screws per side plate and another with only 3 . Both are marked Dam Quick 330. They are the same but with exceptions I found as follows. I had pix of everything to show my diffs but lost them somehow and don't care to tear em down again just now...........
The one with only 3 screws has quite a different Housing in the casting as well as internal structure as well as the shaft, it's attachment to the rotating follower on the main gear and the connector is made of Brass . This reel with a few changes in position of these pieces will allow you to put the handle on either side whereas the one with 4 screws will not .
The pinion gears are different also but the side gears will interchange.....
The 3 screw has a Numeral 1 in the center of the Foot (Hard to See but it's there) . The 4 screw has a Numeral 2 !! The 4 Screw has a round shaft on the end where the lever that fits on the main gear to make it go in and out and will not switch to the other side allowing you to make it a right hand handle and you can not use the parts from the #1 as the shaft has flattened sides on it plus the shafts are different ( Slightly ) lengths.
MAYBE there is another lever you can get that would allow you to change the handle to the other side on the 4Screw

The outside edge on the # 1 is smooth all the way around and the # 2 has a ridge . I DUNNO
The Sideplate on the # 1 is Thicker than on the 2 and the lever that moves the shaft in and out is Steel Not Brass on the 2 as well . Made in West Germany on Foot is in Different position between the 2.
I wonder if the #2 was made for left hand Retrieve ONLY and or which was made First the 1 or the 2
??
